heat is like a glorious return to the old good need for speed games I have not played Heat but I may look into it. What I liked most about Most Wanted was the attention to detail they took to everything; especially the police. I don't think any NFS so far has come close to matching or being better than the police from Most Wanted.
They're definitely not as wacky as burnout, but they are a ton of fun. The best game to compare them to is NFS: Prostreet. Though, in my opinion, the free roaming and the better customization makes the Horizon series way better. IF you like car games, you'll have fun. I think the original Horizon is going for like, 13 bucks at Gamestop.
Rivals is ALL about the cat/mouse game. You have more flexibility as both a driver and racer in this game compared to Hot Pursuit. While in Hot Pursuit, you're restricted to a defined course, Rivals allows you to drive whatever route you want. -Most Wanted features only a number of preset pursuits / courses.

TL;DR: Stick to the highways and the DB9 will serve you very well. Drive of the highways and other cars will be better. The Audi A3 and A4 are unlocked very early (BL 15 and 14) and they come with good weight and AWD. They're great choices for early pursuit cars that also hold up in the late game. Tomcats-be-epic.
Heat combines elements of fan-favourites like Underground and the original Most Wanted with some welcome tweaks inspired by its contemporaries.
