Adding "USBCD1" CD Player to the Volt. Supposedly this can be controlled from the factory system controls. On that page, it lists the Cruze and the Malibu, but not the Volt. As I am aware, the entertainment systems for the Cruze and Malibu are very similar to the Volt, so I am a little surprised and suspect it is just an omission.

The reviews for the few bluetooth CD players I've looked at say they play well with bluetooth speakers but are hit or miss with car audio systems. Would plain old external CD drives designed for PCs be recognized? I don't need/care about getting song info on the car display or controlling the CD from the car display, just that the music plays.

Hopefully, you have a phone with an additional memory card that can hold lots of data. Then connect your phone to the car with either bluetooth or an aux cable. If you don't have a smartphone or it doesn't have a lot of memory, you can buy a bluetooth-enabled MP3 player. Rip your CDs to MP3 files and load them onto the MP3 player.

Hi - Probably not I'd need to know the model of your car stereo to be certain, but most car audio systems only play audio CD discs - although some later models will play mp3 files burned to a data CD, but not AFAIK dvd discs..
